004 | Home for the Holidays

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…”  For me, Thanksgiving is the ultimate family holiday.

You gather with family and friends to celebrate this great country, people coming together of diverse backgrounds, and kicking off the holidays with activities and cheer.

.

In my eyes, it doesn’t get better than that.  I love going to see my family, friends from years past, and my childhood haunts to start-off the season right.  Since leaving my parents’ house, there are only two thanksgivings that I haven’t been in Philly and only one of which where I have been without my family.

.

My recipe to a great trip home over the holidays to see those I love is pretty, simple:

§  A weekend with my folks

§  Holiday feast

§  A night out with friends

§  Family outing

§  Stress-free travel times

§  Work remote time

.

The exact content of each “recipe ingredient” has been amended over the years during different seasons of our lives from a new sister-in-law, nephews, and a niece to changing locations from my parents’ house in my hometown to their shore house and now my brother’s.  Every year it gets better, too!
