“Brunch is always a good idea.”

.

Well, it’s Super Bowl time in Atlanta and since it’s my adopted hometown, it’s only right I give you some Atlanta travel tips this week.  Since the super bowl is on a Sunday, what better way to “build your base” and tailgate than hitting up one of Atlanta’s best brunch spots?!?

.

Here are 7 of my favorite brunch spots in downtown Atlanta and why:

.

Highland Bakery | Most of the places on my list are local, but this is my original favorite breakfast place.  It is incredible for breakfast or lunch.  I usually go for a breakfast sandwich on the jalapeno focaccia or a half sandwich and a cup of turkey chili.  They now have multiple locations, but the original is Old 4th Ward/Inman Park area…and there is something about the first.  Non-alcoholic drinks only.  (https://www.highlandbakery.com/)

.

Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand | This is simply the best place you never even knew you needed.  Delia was one of Atlanta’s original breakfast restaurateurs with The Flying Biscuit.  Once that idea went corporate, she opened two new locations catering to her own locally sourced and produced chicken sausage.  And man, is she on point.  Who knew how versatile chicken sausage was???  Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night…Delia’s reigns.  I personally love the lil’cluckers with comeback sauce, but it is all SO good.  If it’s your first time or you are in the mood to splurge, grab a red velvet cake cake.  AMAZING.  Cheap eats on the go or sit-down…Eastside and Westside. .

Petit Chou | This is a newer place with a hip, casual vibe—small restaurant and eating area with a bar.  The menu is good start to finish.  If you can’t tell, this girl loves breakfast sandwiches and the egg biscuit is not to be missed here!  I usually also order the salad to share with my dining companion and get my greens in.  Order the mimosa, you won’t regret it.  (http://petitchouatl.com/)

.

Serpas | Disclaimer: Serpas is my favorite Atlanta restaurant.  The quality of food with the taste profile for the price beats out any other city I have been to.  That being said, being a loyal fan of Serpas since it opened in 2009, I never went there for brunch until 2018 and all I can say is wow.  Not only do they serve their famous tuna tartar (and other appetizers for brunch!), but the creole omelet…good heavens!  Not to mention the shrimp and grits, fried oyster benedict, and short rib benedict, oh my!  Now of all the places on my list, this is the most expensive, but really the prices are not much compared to the food.  If you’re going, make a reservation for Sunday Brunch and tell, Tara and Chef, I sent you.  (http://www.serpasrestaurant.com/)

.

Grand Park Farmer’s Market | This is the most authentic in-town Atlanta spot.  I will apologize in advance for it being Winter when the farmer’s market is actually held at a local brewery, Eventide…not bad, but not the complete in-town vibe of Atlanta’s neighborhoods…and parks.  That being said, my favorite breakfast is from the Crepe Masters booth, the “Le German”.  Who knew mustard on eggs could be SO good?!?  (Note to self: add creole mustard to the creole omelet at Serpas…it is out of this world!!!)  Also, grab a Revolution donut and peach ice tea while strolling through local farmers and vendors.  (http://www.crepemasters.com/ & http://www.revolutiondonuts.com/)

.

Chick-fil-a | Okay, okay.  I couldn’t very well recommend all of these great breakfast/brunch places and not mentioned Atlanta’s own Chick-fil-a.  Now, I know Chick-fil-a will not be open on Sunday, but jeez…you’re in Atlanta, go.  And don’t just go to a regular Chick-fil-a, take a trip to the original in Hapeville or any of the dwarf houses where you can not only get table service but a burger, too.  Wild!   Definitely take the time to try it out.  (https://www.chick-fil-a.com/)

.

These are some of my favorite brunch spots in Atlanta.  If you’re in-town for the super bowl or any other time, check them out and let me know what you think.

.

Later this week, I’ll give you more Atlanta tips for the BIG weekend.  Have a good one!

Love,

Kelly
